Chevra Kadisha provides the Jewish community with the rites of traditional Jewish burial. Functioning as a Jewish Burial Society, volunteer members of the Chevra Kadisha work in cooperation with a local funeral home at the time of need. The act of caring for the deceased is one of the highest mitzvot that a person can perform, since it is an act of righteousness and loving kindness which the recipient can never return. In that spirit that many volunteers have chosen to learn and participate in the traditional rites of the Chevra Kadisha.

Hadassah National

Hadassah brings together women (and men) from all walks of Jewish life. Each December there is a gift wrapping campaign which not only raises funds for the national organization, but is also a great social event and has become a standard of the Ulster County Winter Scene. In addition, there are usually two or three informal brunches throughout the year, and some additional fundraising activities. Beautiful card certificates, which can be used to honor or memorialize someone, are available all year.

JFS is dedicated to assisting, educating, and supporting seniors, their families, and communities through various programs, services, and supports.
